The W.A.S.P robot is a photovore and its name is an acronym for Whirling And Spinning Photovore" based on its movements. Like most photovores, the W.A.S.P. is a light seeking robot, and it will follow the beam of a flashlight or other light source closely. The W.A.S.P does this by the use of phototransistors, which act as the robots "eyes" by sending information to the circuit about which phototransistor is receiving more light. There are two versions of the W.A.S.P robot- Solderless and Original. The W.A.S.P. Solderless, as the name implies, does not require soldering and is therefore appropriate for ages 8 and up. The W.A.S.P. Original does require soldering and is appropriate for ages 12 and up.
