I got the V1 and thought it was good fun and definately worth the money.
I honestly can't say the same for the V2 though. It was embarrasing trying tp explain to people that I spent so much on somethough that can barely walk. The V1 can run rings around it. In our house it falls over constantly on carpet (short pile), tiles and lino. On the surfaces it didn't fall over on it usually found it too slippery and so just skated around in circles. I'll try out those suggestions on the feet though.
Apart from that I was also greatly disappointed with it's so called AI. More like artificial ignorance it seems. We tried it in different rooms with different lighting conditions and different white balance settings but it was very temporamental regards recognition of colour or hands. We get the flinch response and then just "tracking" most of the time instead of recognising the ball for instance. The "roam" mode seemed to send it off to find the nearest cornner where it usually gets stuck or falls over.
It can get up by itself which is great if it falls on it's back which is less than 50% of the time on mine. I guess they needed this feature though seeing it's so unstable!
The bowling routine is a farce. The way it was described I was kinda expecting it to locate the pins and work out the distance, angles etc. and make a different throw each time. But it has to the right in front of it and it does the same thing each time.
For me definately not worth half the money. I wish they worked on some proper quality features and not just cheap gimmicks.

Mark,
Welcome to the forum!
Sorry to hear about your disappointment. You should take a look at the EvoSapien forum. There are tons of discussions going on about the Robosapien V2's walking, falling, and bowling issues:

Thanks Robert
I guess I'll or rather we'll be keeping it. It's really for my kids who're not so particular! So unless they get bored with it, it's here to stay!
Feet mods will have to be on the cards as the falling over on the carpet and slipping on tiles and lino are a real pain. I can see putting some rubber there will help on slippery surfaces but it might make it worse on carpet. Maybe just on the outside edges - not the inside?
I'm guessing the vision issue is a white balance/light level problem. No individual setting seems to sort the colour recognition out. It never seems to recognise flesh but does see red and green some of the time. I'm not too sure of the blue. I did a test with some very bright halogen lamps and it works a lot better although still not 100%.
I guess I expected too much for something a fraction of the price of a AIBO. I do think they do go too far with the adverts.
